A C A D M I A

Two
years
of
constant
education

Ever since first grade, I do not remember being in one educational institution for more than 2 years, plus or minus 2 months. My very first school was the usual pre-K playhouse where all I did was draw, paint, have cookies with orange juice, and sing along to nursery rhymes. It was certainly influential in increasing my enthusiasm in art. I was so proud of every drawing or painting I would do in school, that when my mother would kiss me and tell me how wonderful my work was, I would believe every word of it. Only now do I know, that praise like that is experienced by most young children, it is something parents find necessary to give whether they mean it or not. That is one of the biggest pieces of evidence I have that supports the view that praise used to embed a sense of success can actually drive children to true success. It certainly worked for me for quite a while.
